We will be assembling an incoming GHS Freshmen team for the summer. Games are on Tuesday or Wednesday nights, and will run 6 consecutive weeks starting June 5. Games are 10 innings or 2:45. Expect one practice for week. The only eligibility for trying out is that the student intends to attend GHS as a freshman next year and is interesting in playing baseball. Tryouts are scheduled for Tuesday May 15 at 6pm at the GHS field. An independent evaluation will be used to select the roster after the tryouts. For uniforms, umpires, etc. expect the cost to be $125. While home games will be wearing GHS hats and jerseys, and played on GHS field, please understand that participating on this team has absolutely no bearing on a player's prospects for making the fall school teams, or more importantly the official UIL teams in the spring of 2019.

May 12- The GHS Baseball Program teams finished the Spring 2018 with a combined record of 74-20-3 (.763). The Mustang Baseball Program outscored opponents this season 778-313. Go Mustangs!
May 7 - Noah Brown pitched 4 complete and Chance McClure closed the 5th as GHS no-hit the Bulldogs from Trimble Tech with 60% strikes, 6 K and 2 BB. The Mustangs were stingy with bases, not allowing a runner past second as Johnny Hearn wiped out two runners trying to steal second base. The hit parade included a combined hitting line of 5/7 with 4 R, 3RBI, and 8 Total Bases by the top two spots in the order, Cyrus Campos and Darren Zarillo. Pierce, Hearn, and Squires got in on the hit action and drove in runs. Faix and Antonetti hit the ball well, with Antonetti driving in a run. Gable also had an RBI. Mustangs ran the bases well with third base and second base at risk for Trimble Tech all night. Vergara, Squires, Campos, and Sims had stolen bases. The offensive surge sets the Mustangs up for the next round against Eaton, beginning Friday at 7:30pm at Home.
May 7 - VR Eaton (25-8-1) took 2 straight from Denton Ryan last week to advance to the Area round against Grapevine. Winquest, batting second, homered in each game. Leadoff batter Seltzer and clean-up man Webber also had hits. Taylor pitched G1 for Eaton, going the distance for a 2-0 shutout (8K, 5BB). Seals pitched Game 2, and recorded 14 strikeouts in 5.2 innings. Seltzer finished up the 9-1 victory. VR Eaton has won 18 of their last 20 games, including big wins over Brewer, Azle, and Aledo. In that span, losses were to Grapevine and Frisco Lone Star in one-run game. GHS is 2-0 against Eaton this year. In early March, a Thursday night game featured Noah Brown vs Eaton ace Jarrod Seals. Brown held Eaton to 1 R over 4.0 innings. Seals had 6K but was touched for 4 ER. Both GHS and Eaton have 25 wins on the year.
